Our mission is to engage local businesses in a Green Market specific to our community.




What we hope to accomplish at the Green Market:

 

• Educate - Bring together local shopkeepers, environmentally-oriented not-for-profits, green vendors and youth groups from area schools to demonstrate new green products and share information.
• Commit - Provide you with simple, practical steps you can take to reduce global warming. We hope every attendee will receive a starter kit including a free compact fluorescent bulb and a reusable shopping bag—tangible pieces of the solution.
• Reduce paper - Cancel at least one catalog per Hopewell Valley household. At the event or when you get home, visit www.catalogchoice.org to stop a catalog mailing you don't need.
• Have Fun - Provide a fun gathering for our community. Enjoy both the Pennington Green Market and the concurrent Presbyterian Harvest Festival. While strolling between these two complementary street fairs, visitors can enjoy the unique restaurants and specialty shops of our progressive business district.
• Change product selection - Encourage a greater Green philosophy within our Pennington merchants, which in turn would encourage us to buy locally, avoid costly shopping trips, and find what we need within our immediate neighborhood.
• Be carbon-neutral - Offset the carbon expended at the event (vendors driving to the event, garbage created, electricity used, etc.) by recycling and supporting clean energy sources.
